FanimeCon has chosen Make-A-Wish® Greater Bay Area as its featured charity for 2013. Fund-raising efforts will continue throughout the Memorial Day Weekend and culminate in a live Charity Auction event Sunday, May 26, at 3 p.m. in the San Jose Convention Center.
FanimeCon’s Charity Auction receives donated goods and services from a variety of sources including dealers, sponsors, guests*, industry, staff, and fans. Members bid on the goods in both silent and live auctions. FanimeCon’s parent organization, the Anime Resource Group, will match the entire dollar amount raised by the 2013 Charity Auction. Memorable donations from past years included unique artwork created by FanimeCon’s celebrity guests, autographed commemorative items, and a Nintendo Wii signed by many FanimeCon Guests of Honor across multiple years.
*This year, one of our guests will have something very special to contribute to our Charity Auction.
About Make-A-Wish® Greater Bay Area
Throughout the year, the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation grants over 300 wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. From their humble beginnings in 1980 with one boy’s wish to be a police officer, they have evolved into an organization that grants a child’s wish in the United States and its territories every 40 minutes.
